PROCESS OVERVIEW

Sulphuric Acid Anodising
Russell Laboratories provides specialist sulphuric acid anodising for aerospace, defence, electronics and high-reliability applications.
Our NADCAP accredited Type II sulphuric acid anodising process produces a controlled aluminium oxide layer that improves corrosion resistance and provides a durable surface suitable for both functional and decorative applications.
We process a wide range of aluminium components, with natural and dyed finishes available to meet customer drawing and specification requirements.
Why Sulphuric Acid Anodising
Sulphuric acid anodising is an electrolytic process that converts the surface of aluminium into a controlled aluminium oxide layer. Unlike an applied metallic coating, the anodic layer is formed from the aluminium itself, creating a hard and durable finish. The process can provide several benefits, including:
-
Improved corrosion resistance
-
Increased surface hardness and wear resistance
-
Good electrical insulation
-
Durable decorative finishes
-
Wide range of colour options
-
Improved surface protection without applying a metallic coating
The porous anodic layer can also be dyed before sealing, allowing components to be produced in a variety of colours while retaining the protective properties of the anodised finish.
